This is one of a number of new works created during my second visit to Ballinglen in Ireland. I have started using oil and cold wax to enable me to provide more of an abstract style whilst retaining the atmosphere you normally see in my landscapes. The layering, using cold wax, pure pigments, pastels and oil bars, provides depth to the painting and allows me to use colours I don't normally use. The images are also based on my memory of a place rather than relying on photographs and sketches.
Oil and cold wax, with pigment on Arches oil paper, mounted, and backed on archival board.
