Cadmium Red Abstract II

Oil and cold wax on a 33m deep Ampersand cradled panel, 30 x 30 cm - ready to hang, unframed. The edges of the panel are painted with white Gesso and the painting has been varnished with cold wax.  

I have started using oil and cold wax to enable me to provide more of an abstract style whilst retaining the atmosphere you normally see in my landscapes.  The layering, using cold wax, pure pigments, pastels and oil bars, provides depth to the painting and allows me to use colours I don't normally use.  The images are also based on my memory of a place rather than relying on photographs and sketches.
