Before the Edge of Wilderness evolved organically after a long period away from the studio, driven by my need to capture new ideas that had been gathering over time. Vast skies dominate the composition, drawing the viewer into the landscape and evoking the sensation of standing on the moors, watching sunlight glint across clouds above the open terrain. Gold leaf catches and reflects the light, heightening the atmosphere and emphasising the ever-shifting interplay between sky and land.

Inspired by walking the land and observing the constantly changing weather, my work focuses on those fleeting moments when light transforms the landscape. I build each piece slowly, using oils and cold wax to create depth, texture, and a sense of movement—allowing the painting to unfold as naturally as the land itself.

This unique statement piece, with its luminous presence and atmospheric depth, becomes a striking focal point in any room, bringing warmth, character, and a sense of quiet drama.

Payment plans

Due to the size of this painting it requires careful packing to protect against damage during transit  Full insurance and tracking also included.
