Earlier this year I received an invitation to be part of a Fringe Event as part of the Holmfirth ArtWeek. The event itself was hosted by the Sculpture Lounge which is a huge mill in Holmbridge which has been converted into artists studios.
Holmfirth Artweek is a fundraising event. A commission of 20% is charged on sales in the Exhibition, the Market & the Fringe with all proceeds being donated to Macmillan Cancer Support. Last year they raised £41K and over the period the event has been running were hoping to reach a total of £1M after this event.
I was super chuffed to have been invited and even more so when I realised what a slick and professional team there was behind this fringe event. They thought of everything!
Because of other commitments I didn't get to see the venue until the night of the preview and boy was I blown away by the work on display as well as how they had organised the preview. Not only was the work displayed and hung professionally but badges were there waiting for me, so I couldn't hide behind my work and also a mug-shot next to my work so there really was no hiding :-)
There was a bar, canapés, live music and a pop-up shop for smaller items such as cards, prints etc. All of this ran like such a slick operation with the team behind the event ensuring people could find me if they wanted to talk to me about my work.
The work on show was stunning and beautifully curated.

In total the Sculpture Lounge had over £20K in sales during that week which I am sure will make a huge contribution towards Holmfirth ArtWeek's target.
I had a fantastic response to my work at the show followed by plenty of sales so a huge thank you to the guys at the Sculpture Lounge for being such wonderful hosts!
