Beacon

£195.00

Product Description

Beacon emerges through an intuitive, exploratory process in which colour, gesture, and chance are allowed to interact freely. Paint drips, solvent marks, and incidental textures are not corrected or concealed, but embraced as the starting point of the composition—guiding the work as much as the artist’s hand.

These instinctive layers draw on the landscapes that inspire them, particularly the North York Moors and its ancient waymarkers. Just as the land holds traces of centuries of human activity and natural change, these paintings accumulate their own record of time, movement, and accident.

Burn-back scars, patchworked fields, winding paths, and river-cut valleys are reimagined in abstract form, their structures distilled into rhythm, surface, and colour. Each work becomes a quiet mapping of place—not literal, but felt—where memory and observation merge into atmosphere.

Together, these elements form a celebration of the moorland’s shifting, layered character: a tactile and atmospheric response to landscape, where what is revealed is always shaped by what has come before.
