Burn Back is a collaborative publication by award-winning poet Nick Allen and artist Paula Dunn, published by their own imprint, Panic Press. A reflective and quietly powerful publication, shaped by place, loss, and a shared commitment to the landscape they call home.

This 60-page hardback book brings together full-colour reproductions of Paula’s paintings alongside poetry, inspired by the moorland landscape surrounding their home. It reflects both a deep love of this place—returned to again and again as a source of creative inspiration—and a growing concern and anger about its mismanagement and the ongoing decline in biodiversity.

Through this dual perspective, the work holds space for both reverence and unease: an intimate response to a landscape that is at once beautiful, fragile, and increasingly under pressure.

Each copy is signed by both authors.


Dedication

The book is dedicated to Anita, who sadly passed away after a short illness last autumn. She was a strong supporter of both artists’ work and, as an artist herself, was the person who first encouraged Paula to begin exhibiting many years ago.

For the first 100 copies sold, £10 from each book will be donated towards Paula’s father’s trek in China, raising funds for the hospice that cared for Anita during her final weeks.
