Product Description

Holweg is an oil and gold leaf painting on deep cradled board. Incised marks cut into the surface reveal earlier layers of paint beneath, echoing the holwegs or holloways found across moorland landscapes.

A holloway is a sunken path gradually worn into the earth over centuries by the passage of travellers, livestock, and carts. Some remain in use today, while others have fallen quiet, only becoming visible when you learn to read their subtle traces—etched lines in the land that speak of repeated journeys and time itself.

In this work, those ideas are translated into surface and process: built-up layers, abrasion, and excavation, where what is removed becomes as important as what remains.

80 x 80 cm, oil on a deep cradled board. Note this is not a framed painting but is ready to hang as it is.

Delivery

Due to the size of this painting it requires careful packing to protect against damage during transit  Full insurance and tracking also included.
